Inspiration

Experiencing busy schedules every day led us to find an emerging need for personal space and safety. In a world often segregated by labels and biases, we aspire to change the narrative and declare the value of “home” to be more pronounced. “Self-care is a universal language”, a belief that shapes and embodies our project.

Welcome to care, an all-in-one mobile web app that invites you to a world where self-care meets comfort. As the beauty and wellness industries are now catering to gendered stereotypes, care emerges as a holistic, gender-neutral haven as we usher all of you to celebrate your own self.

From a fresh cut, manicure, and pedicure, to experiencing a transformative makeup session, comforting massage, and a spa-like facial, all in an app, all delivered to your doorstep, all within your own comfort. We stepped in to also support local beautypreneurs by providing a platform for them to share their services. These are what we are trying to achieve because we care.

What it does

care epitomizes the ultimate all-in-one app, delivering a diverse array of self-care services right to your doorstep. Our mobile app serves as a comprehensive hub, offering everything from invigorating facials to meticulous medicures—a fully inclusive experience crafted to suit users of all genders.

Upon entering, users are greeted with a seamless sign-up process to create their personalized "care" account. Subsequently, they are welcomed to an interactive landing page that showcases their account information, available services, and ongoing promotions. Users can effortlessly navigate to their desired service, triggering a series of optional, user-specific multiple-choice questions for a truly personalized experience.

Following the application of these filters, users are presented with a curated list of "specialists" perfectly matched to their preferences. Each specialist listing is complemented by ratings, offering insights into the expertise and satisfaction of previous clients. With just a few clicks, users can conveniently book appointments, ensuring a tailored and exceptional self-care experience.

How we built it

We used Figma prototyping software to craft a high-fidelity wireframe, serving as the blueprint for our mobile web app's design. Subsequently, we brought this vision to life using HTML, CSS, and JS, bolstered by the efficiency and structure provided by the React.js framework. For seamless in-line styling in React, we employed Tailwind CSS.

To ensure a smooth development process, we utilized Vite to run our project locally. This allowed us to test and refine our code in real-time, ensuring that our mobile web app not only meets design expectations but also functions seamlessly during the development phase.

Challenges we ran into

We are having difficulties to fetch the API due to the CORS policy. We think it's because we are not authenticated yet. When we tried to run the sample code, it worked, but when we tried to establish the calling feature, something went wrong, similar to the demo video that was shown earlier by the T-Mobile representatives. We tried seeking solutions but it is always a dead-end and we decided to implement the API first for future use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As this is the first hackathon for the four of us, we are proud of what we have put in a short span of time. While we had difficulties in gathering our collective thoughts at the beginning and faced challenges after challenges, our idea came together really well and it is reflected in our final prototype.

What we learned

We learned about project management, how to delegate tasks within a limited time frame, to handle differences in opinion, all while enhancing our technical skills.

What's next for care

We plan to develop care into a mobile app with the aim of advocating the significance of self-care and delivering genuine at-home self-care solutions. Our vision is to harness the power of AI to make care highly personalized, providing tailored service recommendations to every user. care will be designed to empathetically comprehend each user's unique challenges and adapt its offerings accordingly. We strive to understand your needs, to provide the best self-care services, because we care.
